For many people in Hawaii an automobile was more than transportation, it was often an extension of one’s personality. People decorated the interiors of their autos with everything under the sun, fuzzy dice, boas, religious statues and rosary beads, and of course dashboard hula dolls.
The colorful spring loaded dashboard dolls were the quintessential interior item of a motorist in past, as well as present Hawaii. Hula dolls can be spotted swaying on dashboards all over the country, especially warm weather states like California, Florida and even in places like Arizona
